Exo-skin-esphre

In collaboration with Rowan University robotic and mechanical engineers, Exo is an improvisational dance performance with robotic prosthetics that react to the dancers’ movement choices. DIGITAL SCULPTURE GARDEN

Supported in part by a Small But Mighty Arts microgrant, the digital sculpture garden aims to capture the impossible—ephemeral moments of motion. Bodies in between stable states represent transformations of identity through the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Samples of work can be found here. MIDDEN/HEAP

Midden/Heap is performative science fiction. Strange creatures twitch, twist, crawl. They collapse and writhe. They become tender towards each other. They support each other. They help each other survive.

M/H first premiered as part of the 2018 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. A solo version of the piece was performed in the 2018 Old City Festival (Philadelphia). A film version of the piece, Heap was filmed in late 2018.

UNDERNEATH THIS LAND

In collaboration with live vocalist Cecelia Castro. My great-great-grandfather died in a mining accident, leaving behind 10 children and a wife. Underneath this Land looks at the history and traditions of manual hard labor in the Midwest, where I grew up, and the sense of hopelessness that is still present in rural areas and farming communities. UtL first premiered as part of the 2018 Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

ONE TIME IT HAPPENED THIS WAY

One Time… is a reflection on home. Using images from the natural landscape during my time growing up in rural Michigan, this work explores ideas of myth, pilgrimage, and collective story telling as a source of identity. Master’s thesis concert, Temple University. Premiered March 2017.

TASTYKAKE

An exploration of a location that is truly Philadelphian! Three dancers and one videographer (Chung-Wei Huang), all from places NOT Philadelphia, explore movement around the Tastykake factory. Special thanks to the lovely people at Tastykake for not arresting the performers and film-maker for trespassing. Premiered 2016.
